Alicia Keys – Burp Cloth for little Egypt Dean!

November 29th, 2010

Did you hear? Krinklz Baby had the extreme pleasure of creating a handmade, one of a kind burp cloth for the amazing and talented new mommy, Alicia Keys (see link for photos). Her beautiful baby boy Egypt will be happily spitting up on his burp cloth with a little crinkly bit worked into the fabric design. Luckily it can go in the washer and dryer with no problems, as I’m sure it will need frequent laundering! Once he has passed his “I love to throw up all over my parents” stage, little Egypt can use the large soft chenille and cotton burp cloth as a favorite little lovey to carry around everywhere for comfort.

I was over the moon to be able to create something for this lovely family, and hope they enjoy using it as much as I enjoyed making it.

See photos here!

The Beauty of Handmade

September 10th, 2010

There is a beauty to handmade. The knowledge that someone took precious time out of their life to create something that they are not only passionate about, but drawn from a vision in their mind. Handmade is created with the most special of ingredients, Love. This touch will never be achieved by a mass-producing machine.

I can almost guarantee that in the process of creating any handmade item, things go wrong. On the inside are unique flaws, as individual as the creation itself. But somehow, miraculously, everything (usually) turns out just fine, and the new proud owner of a purchased handmade item will never be the wiser to these flaws.

Buying handmade means supporting someone’s dream. Validating someone’s time not spent with their family. This, in itself, makes a hero out of anyone who chooses to purchase handmade. Next time you need a gift, think of the “little people” out there, pursuing their passions, innovating the market. Know that what you find will be imperfectly perfect, and mean more to you than anything you could find in a super-store.

Someday

July 13th, 2010

Someday

Someday I will be able to go to the bathroom by myself.

Someday I will be able to load and unload the dishwasher without little hands grabbing at the knives.

Someday I will be able to sit at the computer and write without someone sitting on my lap hitting random keys, erasing my work.

Someday I will be able to watch something other than Backyardigans.

Someday I will be able to start and finish a task all in one go.

Someday I will be able to complete a thought in my head without being interrupted by the needs of little others.

Someday I will be able to sleep as long as I like.

Someday I will be able to spend hours alone, doing exactly what I want.

Someday I will only have to do adult laundry.

Someday I will be able to hop in the car and go to the store without lugging kids around.

Someday I will be able to leave the house with only a wallet, mobile phone, and keys.

Someday the house will not be filled with crying and whining.

Someday I will be able to eat chocolate any time, without explanation or sharing.

Someday I will be able to eat a meal without little hands grabbing everything off of my plate.

Someday I will be able to prepare meals that are exotic and take hours to complete.

Someday I will be able to have any kind of furniture and décor anywhere I want, without worrying about who will ruin it or eat it.

Someday I will be able to sit on the floor without being knocked over full force by little bodies.

Someday I will be able to listen to any kind of music anytime, without someone whining that they don’t like it or it is too loud.

Someday going to bed will be a simple process on my terms.

Someday everything I own will be safe and everything I do will be easy.

And someday, I will miss all of these little annoyances and inconveniences. I will wish my kids were still little, were still at home. Still thought I was a Queen and knew everything. Someday, I will miss this time in my life more than I could miss any other experience I’ve ever had. Someday.

World’s Worst Blogger Asks for Guidance

June 22nd, 2010

It is official!! I am definitely the most undisciplined blogger in the blogosphere:-) Not only am I just not sure what all do include here, I just can’t seem to find the time to keep it up. However, I am going to try. Try to post more often, have meaningful posts, and most of all make it more interesting, so I want to come here and so do you.

So here is where you come in! I want to know what draws you into a blog, or at least makes you visit it now and again. Is it  more about the personal stories for and anecdotes? Finding out about what is happening with the business? Checking out special deals? Or a combination of everything? Let me know your thoughts, as I am looking to my fan base to help guide me through this currently “foreign” world of blogging:-)

Moving Right Along…

May 11th, 2010

Well well. It has been a while since I’ve even opened my blog! I have been busy doing all kinds of behind the scenes crinkly chores.

I won the “In the Spotlight” Competition at Support a WAHP and completed the interview questions. I will be posting up the link and info once it is live so everyone can take a look!

I also began a “First Dibs Friday” event in the Shop tab on my FB page. Every Friday I will post the items I made during the week in that shop, a sort of pre-release of my newest goodies before they go live on my website.

I am also in the process of contacting select baby boutiques to see if they would like to carry Krinklz Baby products in their shops. If you have a favorite shop where you live and believe it would be a good fit for my products, please send me a message and I will work on it!

I am determined to better organize my time. I am going to become the Queen of Charts!! I will set an achievable goal for myself everyday, whether I have 5 minutes or 5 hours to work. I find that if I don’t have a list of exact goals I need to accomplish, I get easily distracted. For instance today, on my list, was to post to my blog. So here you go…once I’m done I will get the pleasure of crossing a line through that item and going on to the next one! Makes a girl happy to feel like I’m getting things done and prioritizing!

Another task is to complete samples that I will be sending to the most generous Amber at WAHM Connect who will be putting together bags and getting the word out to reps. How wonderful to have such amazing support out there!

That is it in a nutshell! Keep up with all of the goings on at Krinklz Baby not only through this blog, but also through my Facebook page. And I have put up a couple of ADORABLE videos of Jules enjoying her crinkly products so everyone can get a better idea of what the heck Krinklz Baby does:-) Have a wonderful day!

Vote for Krinklz Baby!

May 1st, 2010

There is a wonderful site out there called Support a WAHP (work at home parent). They tirelessly help promote our businesses, do incredible advertising and reviews, and are a great source of advice. They have just started a new feature called “In the Spotlight” where they will highlight one business and do an interview with the owner. Krinklz Baby was lucky enough to be selected as one of the five business to participate in the voting process!

I would be so honored to be chosen for this feature, but in order to do that I need to get the most votes! Voting starts NOW and continues through next SUNDAY. All you have to do to vote for me is visit this site, Support a WAHP , look on the right hand side for the voting poll, and VOTE for Krinklz Baby!! This is a great opportunity to get to know more about little ole’ me, the face behind the crinkle:-)

Please go vote, and I thank you in advance for all of your support!
